Collaboration between Local Public Authorities and NGO in the context of implementation of the municipal program of HIV/AIDS prevention and control

On 22 august 2012 within Chişinău Mayor, took place the Roundtable with the theme "Collaboration between Local Public Authorities and NGO in the context of implementation of the municipal program of HIV/AIDS prevention and control ", organized by "For the present and future “association, with the support of the Union for HIV prevention and risk reduction (UOHRAND).  Because of The Risk Reduction Program, implemented by various organizations, it was drastically, reduced the number of cases of HIV infection among injecting drug users (IDUS) in the country. In 2014 the Global Fund financing has completed its mission in the Republic of Moldova; therefore Moldova must acquire the financing of such programs.  Stopping the activities of these organizations will lead to a huge HIV explosion among vulnerable groups. Resources need to be capitalized – already has been demonstrated that civil society can respond, it is quite developed, this fact was demonstrated by visible results. We must do everything possible so that the pandemic does not go into the general population, which is not prepared to face this epidemic. The degree of informing the general population of Moldova is insufficient. Emphasis must be placed on developing the ability to take a final correct decision; Mr. Gheorghiţă expressed fear about the inability of the State to take over the funding aspects relating to HIV prevention.
